Popular Alternative to Precast Changes the Game
The Look and Feel of Precast with Significantly Reduced Cost and Weight
Glacier Bank Park is home of the Glacier Range Riders, a professional baseball team in the Pioneer Baseball League, a “Partner League” of Major League Baseball. One year after opening its new ballpark it won Ballpark Digest’s “Best of the Ballparks/Fan Favorite” vote.
Its owners were determined to create a ballpark that meets the stringent facility standards that MLB imposes on affiliated ballparks. After giving a good deal of consideration to the walking surface they chose Dant Clayton’s Hybrid Precast Stadium System. It was used throughout the seating bowl, giving the ballpark a high-quality feel.
What is Hybrid Precast?
Dant Clayton’s Hybrid Precast Stadium System combines concrete walking surfaces with lightweight aluminum risers, creating a “hybrid” system that delivers the durability of precast concrete at a lower cost. Because the structure weighs less than traditional precast systems, foundation and support requirements—and their costs—are reduced. This pre-engineered solution performs equally well in new construction and overbuild applications.

Owners and architects are attracted to it for its sound-deadening attributes and configuration flexibility. It can work with any seat type, tread depth, railing system, and column grid. It maximizes water control and minimizes effects of thermal expansion. Its smaller sized panels help to speed up installation time because they’re easier to fit in tight areas, than traditional precast.
The Secret Sauce: Single Source for Foundations, Steel Fabrications, Decking Systems, Seating and Railing
The overriding benefit of selecting our Hybrid Precast Stadium System is the turnkey approach that clients who want to walk on concrete crave: a single source for steel design and fabrication, concrete decking, seating options and railing systems.
“The customer doesn’t need to sub out individual products to other trades. We’re providing the precast decking along with the foundation, seating and railing from one company, all within one scope.”
Shining a Spotlight on Hybrid Precast Projects
Dant Clayton is the first and only stadium manufacturer to develop a Hybrid Precast solution. It has been installed in a number of indoor and outdoor sports and multi-purpose facilities across professional, collegiate, high school and municipal venues.
Shining a Spotlight on Hybrid Precast Projects

Over 60,000 square feet of Hybrid Precast concrete was used to build Tulane University’s Yulman Stadium, which seats 30,000 spectators. Ours was the only turnkey concrete seating bowl system available. The system was a good solution for neighborhood concerns about height and sound, and achieved the university’s goal to meet budget.
“We’ve had a great relationship with Tulane over the years. We built their baseball and tennis venues. When it came to their football stadium on campus, we knew there wasn’t a lot of space so we customized the design. Bringing us in early helped. With our Hybrid Precast, Yulman has the feel of precast but without the budget. It's the largest stadium we’ve done in Hybrid Precast.”
Oil City Stadium, Whiting, IN

One of the city’s goals for the new Oil City Stadium was to have the look and feel of a professional ballpark for the semi-pro teams that play there. Our Hybrid Precast and Colosseum I chairs helped to achieve their vision.
“Dant was the preferred bidder because our Hybrid Precast Stadium System was established as the basis of design for this project.”
University of Illinois at Chicago, Les Miller Field at Curtis Granderson Stadium

Catching a game at the home of the UIC Flames is a great experience by any measure and made memorable by the fantastic view of the Chicago skyline. The ballpark was made possible in large part to UIC alum and MLB player Curtis Granderson, who donated $5 million for its construction. Hybrid Precast was chosen for its overall look and feel, which adds to the experience. Our partners at Toadvine Enterprises paid a visit with clients from Eastern Kentucky University before awarding Dant Clayton with building their new baseball stadium.

“Another benefit of Hybrid Precast is it won’t add weight that would require an increase in foundations and support structures. Customers appreciate that they’ll have one point of contact from a product and installation standpoint.”
